Quarter-Finals Game 3 preview: Bonn look to get back on track at home

BONN (Germany) - SIG Strasbourg had a chance for a two-game sweep over Telekom Baskets Bonn, but the German side forced a do-or-die Game 3 in their Quarter-Finals series to determine who will advance to the Final Four.

The game will tip off on Tuesday April 18 at 20:00 CET.

Strasbourg already beat Bonn in the Telekom Dome in Game 1, so the confidence to win on the road will be there, but Bonn will try to make sure that doesn't happen again, especially in a must-win situation.

In Game 2, Bonn were in control for the majority of the game and only trailed for a total of 2:38. Michael Kessens provided a big spark off the bench for Bonn and finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists, for an efficiency rating of 26. Bonn were also a +21 in his 26 minutes on the floor.

  • Only Bilbao conceded fewer points per game (7.3) from fastbreak situations than Strasbourg (7.4) and Bonn (7.5) in the BCL this season; only 9.5 percent of the points conceded by Strasbourg this season come from fast break situations, fewer than any other team.

  • Bonn have lost only one of their last 13 games in the BCL, and it came in their home game against Strasbourg in this Quarter-Finals series (77-76); they have scored fewer than 80 points in each of their two games against Strasbourg after scoring 80+ points in 14 of their previous 16 games.

  • In Game 2, Michael Kessens became the third player to record 15+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists off the bench in a BCL game (16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists); These were all season-highs for Kessens after 22 BCL games this season.

  • Strasbourg, who lost Game 2 last week, have not lost consecutive games in the competition since March-April 2022, when they suffered three defeats in a row during a run that included their two Quarter-Final games against Hapoel Atsmon Holon. Two of Strasbourg's last three road games ended with a single-point margin, including their win in Bonn in this Quarter-Final series (77-76).

  • Marcus Keene has scored 20+ points in six of his eight playoff games in the BCL, including in each of the last three; only one player has scored 20+ points in more consecutive playoff games, it was BAXI Manresa's Jerrick Harding this season, with 4.
