BCL launches TikTok account

MIES (Switzerland) - The Basketball Champions League today announced their decision to bring the excitement of the BCL experience to TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video.

Combining the passion surrounding European basketball and its active community with the fast-growing digital platform, the BCL continues to expand its social-media footprint and grow its multimedia offerings for fans and followers.

From the clubs to the fans, mascots and players, this partnership will bring the excitement of a BCL game day to TikTok's diverse content ecosystem while involving the TikTok community in the broader BCL experience. The platform, most downloaded app in 2020, has recently announced having passed 1 billion monthly users and is reaching a fast-growing global audience of basketball fans and future fans.

"Being present on TikTok is a natural extension of our communication plan," said Patrick Comninos, BCL CEO. "Reaching and engaging young audiences is an integral part of our digital strategy and creating content purely for TikTok will be a hugely valuable opportunity for us in this regard. We have carefully analysed the platform's recent developments, and we see a growing number of users transitioning to TikTok and using this channel on a daily basis. We also believe this addition to our communication channels will offer unique marketing opportunities for brands to activate around BCL content on TikTok," he added.

BCL's TikTok account is the latest addition to the competition’s robust social media coverage, currently catering to a social media audience of more than 2.6 million, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
