TENERIFE (Spain) - Lenovo Tenerife head coach Txus Vidorreta became on Tuesday, following his team's 80-75 win over Igokea at home in in Group J action, the first tactician to reach the 50-victory milestone in the five-year history of the Basketball Champions League.

Vidorreta has claimed all 50 of his wins at the helm of Tenerife, the only club he has coached in the competition. His overall record in the four seasons he has coached in the BCL, including the current one, is 50 wins, 17 losses and 1 draw (in the 2016-17 Quarter-Finals series against ASVEL, which was determined by the aggregate score in home and away games).

The 54-year-old Spanish coach picked up his first 15 wins in the inaugural edition of the competition, in which of course he led Tenerife to the top of the podium and the BCL trophy.

He parted ways with the yellow-blacks the following season and took the reins of Valencia Basket but returned to the island in 2018-19.

In his first BCL campaign after returning to the helm of Tenerife, the Bilbao-born tactician claimed another 15 wins in the European competition and steered the club to the Final, where they fell to Virtus Bologna.

Vidorreta tallied a further 13 wins in the 2019-20 BCL season and he has already picked a further seven victories so far in this current campaign - four in the Regular Season and three in the Play-Offs.

Tenerife have two more games left in the 2020-21 Play-Offs and potentially up to three more games if they reach the Final 8, which means the 55-win mark is within Vidorreta's theoretical grasp this season.

The two coaches that flank Vidorreta on the podium of BCL career wins are also still active in the competition, as AEK head coach Ilias Papatheodorou has now reached 36 victories (with AEK and PAOK) while Oren Amiel has climbed to 35, all at the helm of ERA Nymburk.
