Hereda San Pablo Burgos Transfer Watch

Hereda San Pablo Burgos made the headlines in June by reaching the Semi-Finals of the Spanish Liga Endesa season-ending tournament and of course followed up in September by conquering the BCL trophy at the Final 8 in Athens.

The latest addition to the 2020-21 roster is Belarusian international Maksim Salash, who had an explosive start to the BCL season with Tsmoki-Minsk. The 24-year-old power forward led the Minsk team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.5 points and 8 boards per game.

Prior to the start of the season Burgos had signed power forward Ken Horton, who spent last year at Germani Basket Brescia. The 31-year-old American averaged 11.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in the Italian Serie A with 11.1 points and 5 rebounds in the EuroCup.

The Spanish club also added veteran point guard Omar Cook who has previous stints at fellow ACB clubs Baskonia, Valencia, Unicaja Malaga and Estudiantes. The 38-year-old spent the 2019-20 at the fifth Spanish club of his career, Herbalife Gran Canaria, averaging 7.1 points and 6.9 assists per game in the Liga Endesa.

Burgos brought in two players to make up their new pair at the center spot,  both from fellow  Spanish teams. Dejan Kravic, who was a valuable piece in Virtus Bologna's BCL title run in 2018-2019, had an excellent 2019-20 season at Monbus Obradoiro and averaged 13.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in the Liga Endesa.

Jordan Sakhno meanwhile spent the season at BAXI Manresa, who competed in the Regular Season of the BCL. The 23-year-old big man from the Democratic Republic of the Congo averaged 4.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in the BCL while in the Spanish league he averaged 5.9 points and 4.5 boards per game.

The Castile club have so far secured the services of Spanish international and FIBA Basketball World Cup gold medalist Xavi Rabaseda, who ended an almost four-year stint at Gran Canaria. Burgos also signed point guard Alex Renfroe, who spent last season at Zenit Saint Petersburg.  Both these veteran players have previously worked with coach Joan Peñarroya.

Burgos parted ways with seven players (including Pablo Aguilar, who only joined the team during a few weeks for the Liga Endesa season-ending tournament), but have renewed their collaboration with Vitor Benite, Jasiel Rivero  and Thad McFadden, and have Alex Barrera and Miquel Salvó under contract.
