Pinar Karsiyaka Transfer Watch

Pinar Karsiyaka are about to enter the second year of the current tenure of Ufuk Sarica, a coach who has earned talisman status at the club after leading them to the Turkish league crown in 2015, during his first stint in Izmir.

In the same vein, Karsiyaka have also opted for continuity on the roster so they extended key pieces such as swingman D.J. Kennedy, point guard Tony Taylor and the forward duo of French international Amath M'Baye and Turkish internationals Metecan Birsan and Semih Erden.

Even Karsiyaka's first new addition to the roster this summer, Sek Henry, is a familiar face in Izmir since he spent the 2018-19 season there.

The 33-year-old shooting guard left Karsiyaka for the New Zealand Breakers and then briefly played at Hapoel Tel Aviv before returning to Turkey for his former club.

The second addition, forward/center Raymar Morgan, is also a former Karsiyaka player albeit he only got to play a handful of games in Izmir, back in 2011.

The 32-year-old big man spent the last couple of years at Unics Kazan in Russia and in the 2019-20 season he averaged 13.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in the VTB United League and 11.3 points with 5.1 boards in the EuroCup.

Karsiyaka went on to add another player who can play at both the center and power forward positions, in Mahir Agva. The 24-year-old big man spent last season at Darussafaka and averaged 3 points and 2.7 rebounds in the Turkish league with 2 points and 2 rebounds in the EuroCup.
