Everything you need to know ahead of Thursday's Quarter-Finals

NIZHNY NOVGOROD (Russia) - The second pair of the 2021 Semi-Finals will emerge on Thursday, after the reigning champions and the 2017 champions take on the Israeli upstarts of Hapoel Unet-Credit Holon and the French die-hards of SIG Strasbourg, respectively.

Here's a closer look at the two Thursday Quarter-Finals:

Lenovo Tenerife vs. SIG Strasbourg -- 16:00 CET (17:00 local time)

  • Tenerife are coming off a 98-65 loss at Fuenlabrada in Spanish Liga Endesa action on Sunday, despite  12 points from each of Marcelinho Huertas and Spencer Butterfield.

  • Strasbourg meanwhile were last in French Jeep Elite league action on April 30 and they picked up an 85-79 win at Boulazac, behind 20 points from Brandon Jefferson and 19 from Bonzie Colson.

  • This will be the third encounter between Tenerife and Strasbourg, with each team winning on the road back in the 2016-17 season. Both games were decided by four or fewer points.

  • Tenerife and Strasbourg are two of the five teams that have taken part in every edition of the BCL. The Spanish club are the all-time leaders with 65 wins in the league, while the French are the fifth-leading club, with 39 victories.

  • Strasbourg's three-game winning streak to close out the Play-Offs is their longest in the BCL since January-February 2018, when they won four in a row. The Thursday Quarter-Final will be their 13th game BCL post-season game, the most for a French team in the competition (they are currently level with Monaco, with 12 each).

  • Tenerife score a league-high 1.21 points per possession and are the only team to shot 50 percent or more from the field, 40 percent or more from three-point rage and 75 percent or more from the free-throw line.

  • Strasbourg have a league-high offensive rebound rate of 38 percent and are the only team to have pulled down at least 10 offensive rebounds in each of their 12 games so far this season.

  • Giorgi Shermadini is averaging 17.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in the Play-Offs, on 63.3 percent shooting from the floor. Tenerife have won seven of the eight games in which Shermadini scored 20 or more points.

  • Bonzie Colson averaged 20.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game over the last eight BCL games and he's made at least one triple in each of his 11 games in the league.

Hapoel Unet-Credit Holon vs. Hereda San Pablo Burgos -- 19:00 CET (20:00 local time)

  • Holon are coming off a great victory in the Balkan league, as they defeated Bulgaria's Akademik Plovdiv 91-78 in the Final to conquer the trophy. Tyrus McGee led the Israeli team with 20 points and Isaiah Miles added 18 points and 8 boards. Miles was named MVP of the Final Four.

  • Burgos are coming off a 95-77 win over Real Betis in Spanish Liga Endesa action on Sunday, behind a career night by Vitor Benite, who poured in 25 of his 37 points in the final quarter after going 8 of 10 from three-point range.

  • Holon, who are playing in the BCL Quarter-Finals for the first time in club history - after three failed attempts to even reach the Play-Offs in previous seasons - are seeking to become the first Israeli team to make the Semi-Finals.

  • If Burgos win on Thursday they will become only the second team in BCL history, after Monaco, to reach the Semi-Finals for a second consecutive season.

  • Holon have won their last two BCL games against Spanish teams, after losing the previous four against teams from that country.

  • Burgos have lost two of their last three games in the BCL, after losing only one of their previous 15 in the competition. Burgos also faced an Israeli team in the 2020 Quarter-Finals, beating Hapoel Jerusalem 92-65 on their way to the BCL title.

  • Holon score a league-leading 41 percent of their points from beyond the three-point arc. Holon are the second-leading team in made triples this season, averaging 10.8 per game (behind Brose Bamberg, who averaged 11.2 per game).

  • Burgos have the best defensive rating in the league, giving up only 1.02 points per possession. The reigning champs hold opponents to 41.4 percent shooting from the floor, and they are the best in the league also in that respect.

  • Holon’s Isaiah Miles leads the league in made three-pointers with 37 in total, and he scored 20 or more points in two of his last three games in the league, a feat he had not accomplished in any of his previous eight games in the competition.

  • Jasiel Rivero of Burgos has won 90 percent of the games he has played in the BCL Play-Offs, the highest win percentage ever among players who have played at least five games in the postseason. The Cuban big man is averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds per game this season.
