Cholet Transfer Watch

Cholet Basket head coach Erman Kunter is entering the third season of his current  tenure at the club and, combined with his previous two stints, the Turkish-French tactician is heading, quite admirably,  into his 10th season at Cholet.

Cholet have also chosen to extend the contracts of several key players of the 2019-20 team, whilst making some surgical moves in the transfer market.

To that end,  the club have signed swingman Lasan Kromah, who is coming off a solid 2019-20 season at Kolossos Rhodes. The 29-year-old American averaged 15.7 points, 4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in the Greek Basket League.

Terell Parks was recruited to bolster the Cholet frontcourt, after he spent the 2019-20 season between Greek side Larisa and Nizhny Novgorod, but on November 17th the French team decided to rescindd their contract.

Parks played in the first two BCL Regular Season games with Cholet, averaging 4 points and 5 rebounds per game.  His replacement, Aaron Jones,  came from another BCL team as the 27-year-old forward/center started the season at RETAbet Bilbao. Jones played the first two games of the BCL season with the Spanish team, averaging 5 points and 4 rebounds.

Cholet also signed American forward Kyvon Davenport who is coming off a very promising season at Hapoel Eliat. Davenport averaged an efficiency rating of 16, on 13.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, in the 2019-20 Israeli Winner League season.

Cholet also signed 25-year-old Chancey Collins who had a standout season in the Lithuanian LKL league with Dzukija Alytus, but parted ways with the point guard in early November.

Meanwhile the French club also penned small forward Ike Nwamu who played in the G-League with the Nothern Arizona Suns in the 2019-20 season, as well as signing 20-year-old French international Yoan Makouhndou, who came up from their youth team Academie Gautier, his first professional contract.

The next addition was Slovenian international Gregor Hrovat, who has considerable BCL experience with Union Olimpija Ljubljana and Medi Bayreuth. The 26-year-old swingman spent last season at Afyonkarahisar and averaged 12.1 points and 4.8 assists per game in the Turkish league.

Gerry Blakes was a late addition, on October 28h, as his collaboration with Brose Bamberg came to an early end. The combo guard played for Oldenburg in 2019-20, averaging 10.4 points and 2.1 assists in the BBL, and then joined Strasbourg but only got to play one game with the French side due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The latest addition to the 2020-21 Cholet roster though is a familiar face, as Chris Horton returns to the club where he averaged 17.2 points and 9 rebounds per contest  in the 2019-20 Pro A campaign. The 26-year-old big man started the current season at fellow French side Gravelines-Dunkerque, where he averaged 10 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in the Pro A.
