Brose Bamberg Transfer Watch

Bamberg embarked on an almost complete overhaul this summer, as they already parted ways with no less than seven members of their 2019-20 roster, as well as with head coach Roel Moors.

The Bavarian club handed the reins to another young tactician, 39-year-old Johan Roijakkers, who turned heads with his work at fellow German side Goettingen last season.

Point guard Bennet Hundt and shooting guard Dominic Lockhart have followed the Dutch coach on the trip from Goettingen to Bamberg.

The reds further boosted their backcourt by luring 26-year-old Kenneth Ogbe away from Berlin, after the shooting guard helped Alba conquer the German league title in the season-ending tournament in June.

Bamberg have of course shown this summer a clear preference towards recruiting players with recent experience from the German easyCredit BBL so their next move was signing Tyler Larson, who played for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the 2019-20 season.

Larson joined Oldenburg in November from French side Boulazac and averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 boards per game in the easyCredit BBL.

The next additions to the overhauled Bamberg roster came in the form of players with previous experience in the BCL, in Michele Vitali,  Chase Fieler and David Kravish.

Vitali spent the 2019-20 season with Dinamo Sassari and averaged 8.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in the BCL with 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the Italian Serie A.

Fieler, who played in the BCL with Filou Oostende in back-to-back campaigns from 2017 through 2019, spent last season at Promitheas averaging 8.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in the Greek A1 league.

Meanwhile Kravish played in 2019-20 for Spanish side BAXI Manresa, averaging 10 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in the BCL with 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in the Liga Endesa.

Bamber's latest summer signing is another center, in the form of 25-year-old Norense Odiase who played for Northern Arizona Suns during the 2019-20 season and averaged 5.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in the G League.

The German side initially penned Gerry Blakes but parted ways with him in October, and he joined fellow BCL club Cholet. Bamberg chose Devon Hall as his replacement, offering the 25-year-old guard the chance to continue his professional career in Europe. Hall spent the 2019-20 season between Oklahoma City Thunder and their G League affiliate, Oklahoma City Blue.

The latest addition to the Bamberg roster is Shevon Thompson, who arrives from Fuenlabrada but had left his mark in the 2019-20  BCL by averaging a near double-double in points and rebounds with Filou Oostende, before suffering an injury in February.

The 27-year-old big man signed with Fuenlabrada after the start of the 2020-21 season and played 11 games in the Spanish Liga Endesa, averaging 5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
