Transfer Report - Gameday 12

MIES (Switzerland) - Finding it hard to keep up with the ever-changing rosters of the Basketball Champions League? Well, worry you not, the Transfer Report is a one-stop-shop for all of the BCL's confirmed signings, and even the odd rumor or soon-to-be-announced arrival. To play on Gameday 12, players needed to be registered with the hard-working people in the FIBA House of Basketball by close of play on Monday (yesterday).

Confirmed

The following are registered and confirmed incomings and outgoings ahead of Gameday 12. If the Christmas break was the busiest period for transfers to date, this has possibly been the biggest. Anytime you see AEK, Tenerife, Jerusalem, Sassari, and Strasbourg all make moves at the same time, you know it's getting to that time in the season when results really matter. Tenerife and Jerusalem, in particular, have both made power plays this week.

IN

Nikos Zisis, PG, 36 years, 6'5" (1.96m) 🛬 AEK Athens

Feel good transfer of the year, no question. The Lord of the Rings may have been enjoying his time in Northern Spain with Joventut but the draw of returning to the club where it all started was always going to be irresistible. For AEK the practical side of this transfer was the need for a domestic player on the roster after Gkikas' injury.

The emotional side was the chance to reunite with one of their favorite sons. Zisis has already enjoyed one of European basketball's finest playing careers, and it all started in the early noughties with a Greek Cup in 2001 and a Greek League Championship in 2002.

With AEK still chasing silverware in the Greek Cup and the Basketball Champions League, who knows? maybe the story isn't written yet. Bamberg rode the playmaking of Zisis and the veteran scoring of Tyrese Rice all the way the Final Four last season. Maybe pairing Zisis with another crafty, left-handed, veteran scorer in Keith Langford can have a similar impact.

Aaron White, PF, 27 years, 6'9" (2.06m) 🛬 Iberostar Tenerife

Txus Vidorreta Said: " It's an honor to coach him at this club. He could have remained in a city as great as Milan but he's here and he's got his flow again."

Aaron White Said: "I've heard good things and I have seen for myself that the city is great. I think we are going to compete at a high level in the BCL and the ACB. I can try to play hard, run the floor, play above the ring, and play as a team sharing the ball."

Between those two quotes, it looks like we have just about covered it for this transfer. All that's left to do is to congratulate the club on building such an impressive recruitment structure. When a player joins a club and before they even touch the ball you just know it's going to be a great fit, that has to be a sign of a healthy and thriving recruitment process. Remember, Tenerife brought in an entirely new roster this season. They only kept Tomas Gielo who has been playing very well recently after hardly featuring last season. When you see the way this group fits together you would assume they have been together for years. Not only does this transfer make sense, but it also makes Tenerife even tougher to stop. Starting with the Intercontinental Cup where they get the chance to make up for the disappointment of last year's BCL Final.

Shelvin Mack, PG, 29 years, 6'3" (1.91m) 🛬 Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem

It seems Jerusalem want to win everything this year. They have already won the Israeli League Cup this year, they are top of their group in the BCL and sit second in the Winner League. They are on track to have the best offensive rating ever in a BCL season at 120 points per 100 possessions and already had arguably the most dangerous offensive backcourt in the BCL with Blatt, Feldeine and J'Covan Brown. Adding Shelvin Mack into the mix almost seems unfair. Things maybe didn't work out with the adjustment to life in Milan. If they do work out in Jerusalem and we see Mack on the top of his game, getting to work in Coach Kattash's pick-and-roll heavy system, good luck trying to guard this team.

Dwight Coleby, C, 26 years, 6'9" (2.06m) 🛬 Dinamo Sassari

The Club Said: "Dinamo Banco di Sardegna is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with the Bahamian athlete Dwight Coleby. Born in Nassau in 1994, the player comes from the Turkish Superligi where, in his second year as a professional in the jersey of Sigortam.net Itu Basket, he averaged 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game."

Dinamo Sassari are close, no they are very close to securing a place in the BCL Round of 16. All it takes is a Manresa win and they are in. After winning the FIBA Europe Cup last year, this is a club on a roll. Jamell McLean left the team the frontcourt needed some athleticism, energy, and rebounding. It seems that have that in Coleby. Combined with Miro Bilan and Dwayne Evans in the battlegrounds, Coach Pozzecco has a frontcourt with size, mobility, and versatility. Sassari may not be regulars to the BCL Play-Offs but they are a team that nobody will want to play.

Artsiom Parakhouski, C, 32 years, 6'11" (2.11m) 🛬 SIG Strasbourg

It hasn't been a season to remember for SIG Strasbourg. We aren't used to seeing players come and go from the roster for Coach Collet but for whatever reason SIG just haven't been able to find their balance this season. After Jerai Grant moved on a big man was needed. Parakhouski had a strong season with Lietuvos Rytas last season. Coach Collet will be hoping that he can reignite that form and also help to reignite Strasbourg's season..
