SIG Strasbourg late show wins against Neptunas

STRASBOURG (Basketball Champions League) - SIG Strasbourg pulled off a big comeback and stunned Neptunas Klaipeda to advance to the Quarter-Finals of the Basketball Champions League.

Vincent Collet's side, beaten by 5 points in the first leg last week in Lithuania, fell behind by 20 points on aggregate on Wednesday night but battled back and forced overtime before prevailing, 88-78.

The hosts outscored Neptunas 24-13 in the last quarter. In a crazy end to regulation, Damien Inglis made a pair of free-throws for a 75-70 lead and to pull SIG Strasbourg level on aggregate.

Strasbourg then got the ball back with 34 second to go but failed to get off a shot off and turned the ball back over to Neptunas with 10 seconds remaining.

The Lithuanians, whose Simas Galdikas, Edgaras Zelionis and Laimonas Kisielius had fouled out, inbounded the ball to Renaldas Seibutis after a timeout and the veteran ran the clock down to the final couple of seconds before attempting a 3-pointer that was off the mark.

In the overtime, David Logan and Tomas Delininkaitis traded baskets before Inglis hit a jump shot and then powered his way up for 2 points.

Seibutis later knotted the tie with a pair of free-throws but Logan drilled a 3-pointer from the wing to put the hosts in front on aggregate to stay. Darion Atkins and the excellent Dee Bost added slam dunks to put an exclamation mark on the victory.

Inglis led the way with 21 points while Bost had 17 and David Logan 13.

Zelionis poured in all 17 of his points in the first half for Neptunas.
