AS Monaco remain perfect with big road win at Sassari

SASSARI (Basketball Champions League) - AS Monaco remain top of Group A with their fourth straight win, 81-63 over Dinamo Sassari on the road on Tuesday evening.

The visitors didn't make it comfortable until midway through the final quarter, as they pulled away to a 4-0 record.

Christopher Evans had a team-high 18 points, including numerous dunks, Paul Lacombe netted 17 points, and Elmedin Kikanovic finished with 14 and 10.

"Coach made a lot of rotations and I think it got us the win tonight," Lacombe said after the game.

"A lot of players played tonight, everybody gave something. We keep them like this until the end of the game, the last part it was tied game, 5, 6 points and this point we gave more energies than them and I think that's what made the difference tonight."

Sassari fell to 0-3 at home on the season, and 1-3 overall as they will continue to look for answers.

"I think we started with a good beginning," Sassari's Giacomo Devecchi commented.

"We wanted to do very well after two very important games with Murcia and Milan, we tried to come to the court giving our best effort and energies. But it's not so easy when you've spent a lot of energy with the last two games with such good opening teams.

"I think this is just a little accident in our journey, we need to stay positive, we want to do well. I think we need to watch the overview of what we are doing as I think we are absolutely on the right track, we are growing as a team, especially on defence, and we've grown a lot since our last games."

Monaco shared the ball, registering 27 assists, behind 8 from DJ Cooper and 6 from Aaron Craft as the AS Monaco backcourt led from the front.

Scott Bamforth was a bright spot for Sassari, registering 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists, but received little help as the only player in double figures for the home team.
