Kennedy claims MVP of the Week after remarkable effort

MURCIA (Basketball Champions League) - David "D.J." Kennedy has had impressive performances so far for Pinar Karsiyaka in the Basketball Champions League, but without question, his magnificent effort on Wednesday has been the best of all.

The native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania scored 30 points, with an eye-grabbing +35 efficiency rating as Pinar Karsiyaka claimed a convincing 91-96 overtime triumph against UCAM Murcia that reinforces the team's second place in Group A, after the undefeated group leader, AS Monaco.

Together with his 30-point performance, Kennedy showed consistency with the free throws, scoring 12 out of 15 of them, and has been a defensive key asset in Karsiyaka's victory, managing 12 defensive rebounds (13 in total). Overall, D.J. Kennedy is currently the best performer of the Basketball Champions League, averaging 20.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 23.6 efficiency per game.

After a college career at St John's university, and before joining Europe, D.J. Kennedy signed for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2012, team for which he played the 2012 NBA Summer League. He is also no stranger to Basketball Champions League teams since he has played for Enisey Krasnoyarsk, Hapoel Holon and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg from 2014 to 2017.

The ideal five of Week 5 also includes Zack Wright (SIG Strasbourg), Amara Sy (AS Monaco), Glen Rice Jr (UNET Holon) and LaRon Dendy (Juventus Utena).
