It's all about the team wins for Gameday 3 MVP Allen of EWE Baskets

OLDENBURG (Basketball Champions League) - Spectators haven't been able to take their eyes off Bryon Allen since he played in his very first game in the Basketball Champions League.

He's good. He's dynamic. He's dynamite.

Playing for CEZ Nymburk last season and against Danish side Bakken Bears on Gameday 1, Allen set the tone for the season. He poured in 25 points.

There were other big games, too, like a 33-point explosion in a victory over Banvit, a team that would eventually reach the Final.

Allen, who averaged 15.3ppg and helped his Czech team advance from the initial group phase, is still playing in the Basketball Champions League in 2017-18 but with a different team. He's now on the books of EWE Baskets Oldenburg.

The impact is the same. This week, he had 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals to lead the German team to a 96-82 home triumph over previously unbeaten Pinar Karsiyaka.

Allen, who had a +26 efficiency for the game, has been named as the Gameday 3 MVP.

Allen was very good last season, but he's looking even better with EWE Baskets. He has started the new campaign scoring 21, 16 and 21 points against Enisey Krasnoyarsk, Dinamo Sassari and Pinar Karsiyaka, respectively, while shooting 47.5 percent (19 of 40) from the field.

He's also an impressive 14 of 17 (82.4 percent) at the free-throw line.

It's go time! Eye on the prize at all times. #BA0

"Everything at Oldenburg is going great for me," said Allen, who is in his fourth professional season after a four-year career at George Mason University.

"It's a new journey, a new start, year four for me in Germany. I'm taking advantage of the full opportunities."

Twice last season, Allen made the Team of the Week but this is his first MVP of the Week honor. He was just got glad to get a second win in three Basketball Champions League games.

"It was a great performance (against Pinar Karsiyaka) for the whole team," he said. "We all played hard. We all did our jobs and came out with the win. That was the most important thing. I was focused on doing what I had to do for the team win.

The most important thing for me, my mindset, do whatever I have to do for my team to win - scoring one night, or guarding the best offensive player or getting rebounds or passing the ball. I don't mind it at all, I just want to win."Allen

"We're all competitors. We all hate losing at anything. I'm very thankful and blessed to have been named the MVP and just want to continue working hard and continue to string wins together and because at the end of the day, it's about the team and not the individual goals. That's my main focus."

So is there anything particular about the Basketball Champions League that brings the best out of Allen, seeing as how he's raising eyebrows in the competition for a second straight year?

"I'm just a competitor, doesn't matter who I'm playing against," he said. "I just want to win at all times. I could be playing against Michael Jordan or a 13-year-old, it doesn't matter. I still want to win, set the tone.

"It doesn't matter about the competition. The most important thing for me, my mindset, do whatever I have to do for my team to win - scoring one night, or guarding the best offensive player or getting rebounds or passing the ball. I don't mind it at all, I just want to win."
