AS Monaco steamroll past UNET Holon to stay perfect

MONACO (Basketball Champions League) - AS Monaco registered their highest scoring game of the season with a 94-64 rout of UNET Holon to stay perfect in Group A.

The French side improved to 9-0 and remain the only undefeated team in the Basketball Champions League

Having put on a clinic for the fans, AS Monaco Head Coach Zvezdan Mitrovic spoke about ensuring they bring their best every game:

"We respect our job and we respect our place. I spoke at halftime with players and we need to show good basketball as the people have come here to see us. We respect all our fans and opponent fans and we really try to show our best game every game."

Elmedin Kikanovic went 7-for-7 in the first half for 14 of his game-high 19 points, whilst Paul Lacombe and Christopher Evans finished with 18 each, with the latter also having a contender for dunk of the season in the closing moments.

Joe Alexander led Holon with 18 points, with Tashawn Thomas having 11 and Glen Rice Jr joining them in double figures with 10.

Holon Head Coach Dan Shamir could only marvel at the performance from AS Monaco:

"Hats off to Monaco and Coach Mitrovic, it's really a fantastic team," he said.

"The story of the game is not exactly us, it's how they play. We've watched a lot of film of this team and we've got a lot of respect for what they do and how they do it; the coaches, the way they play, the toughness. A great job is done here and I think this is the story of the game."

After trailing early, Monaco used an 8-0 run behind six points from Christopher Evans to take control and never looked back, leading by as many as 14 in the opening quarter.

The lead was up to 22 at halftime, with Monaco shooting just short of 70% behind Kikanovic's perfect performance.

The second half was a mere formality, as the home side led by as many as 33 on their way to another big win.
