Play-Off Quarter Final Report: AS Monaco sweep Sassari on way to Final Four

SASSARI (Basketball Champions League) - AS Monaco celebrated a 79-76 win over Dinamo Sassari on Wednesday evening, to claim a 152-138 triumph on aggregate, and book their spot at the Final Four next month.

Sergii Gladyr hit a number of key three pointers during Sassari's attempted runs, finishing 6 of 9 from beyond the arc for 20 points, whilst Zack Wright had an impressive 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists on 10 of 13 shooting.

Monaco knocked down over 60% of their shots from beyond the arc, and took the lead at the end of the second quarter behind back to back triples from Gladyr.

The visitors would lead by as many as 11 points and would stifle any Sassari comeback attempt and put together a solid performance at both ends of the floor that pleased their play-caller.

"It's a very tough home court," AS Monaco Head Coach Zvezdan Mitrovic commented.

"I tried to tell my players not to think about the (aggregate) advantage, to play as if it's 0-0 and try to play 40 minutes to make a good result.

"I think we controlled the game from the start. We did a really smart game offensively, we make some three point shots against zone - we had big problems against zone in Monaco but not tonight.

"As coach, we had a great game offensively and defensively tonight."

And whilst holding Sassari to 26% shooting from three, Gladyr added:

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game and that Sassari have been playing much stronger at home. They shoot much better from three and that's what we tried to stop. The most important thing for us was to play defence."

David Bell led Sassari with 20 points and 5 assists, and was joined in double figures by Trevor Lacey with 18 and Tau Lydeka and Dusko Savanovic with 10-a-piece.

Monaco will now await to find out their Final Four opponents with the draw happening next week.
