Karsiyaka win thriller

Pinar Karsiyaka could only score 10 points in the last quarter, but it proved to be enough to edge out home side Avtodor Saratov 76-74 on Mateusz Ponitka's lay-up with 0.8 seconds left to play.

The result saw the Turkish side take their third win in four games. Karsiyaka's coach Nenad Markovic used a narrow rotation with only 7 players in this game.

Away team began the game with 6-2 streak, then Saratov replied with 10-0 run and turned back the game at the score of 12-6. Russian team were effective at offensive boards and also hit some 3 balls, they were in advance with 24-18 at the end of 1st quarter.

Karsiyaka made a lot of turnovers so Avtodor adjusted the difference to 9 points (31-22) at the first minutes of 2nd quarter. Turkish team began to use the ball effectively and with that they improved the defensive resistance too. They cleared the deficit to 3 points (38-35) in the 7th minute and we saw 41-37 Avtodor advantage on the scoreboard while teams were going to locker rooms. The main stats of the first half was Karsiyaka's 11 turnovers. And their floor general Dillard injured end of 2nd quarter, scared the fans. The good news he returned the game at the very first minutes. 

In the 2nd minute of 3rd quarter Karsiyaka equalized the game and took the lead at 3rd minute. The lead for Karsiyaka was 57-54 with Pettaway's 3 point at 8th minute. After the technical faul of Avtodor's bench Karsiyaka adjusted the lead by 10 points (64-54), final score of this quarter was 66-56. Karsiyaka gained the lead by 29-15 at this quarter.

Turkish team lost confidence and made easy turnovers in the first minutes of 4th quarter, they lost their rhythm at offense too. Saratov fined Karsiyaka's false decisions and turnovers with fast break points, established 13-2 series and took the lead back with 1 points (69-68) till 3 minutes to the end of game.

Till 1:56 to the end Karsiyaka's coach Markovic took a technical faul and Saratov adjusted the lead with 74-70 1:41 remaining. Then Karsiyaka started the return with Owens basket first then Brown's at last 30 seconds, the scoreboard showed 74-74. 

In the most crucial seconds Avtodor made a turnover and Karsiyaka had a chance at offense in last 10 seconds. Polish star Ponitka turned his back to the basket at the painted area and finished the difficult position with the bucket 0.8 seconds remaining. Karsiyaka gained the lead with 76-74. After the timeout Avtodor pushed the ball to the opponents floor but they couldn't find a suitable position to score. 

Although Ponitka scored the winning points Brown was the MVP of the game. He missed the triple-double with only 1 asist and 1 rebound; 22 points (3/6 3pts), 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Minnerath scored 28 points and got 8 rebounds but not enough for the win.
