Bryon Allen stars as CEZ Nymburk protect home court against Banvit

NYMBURK (Basketball Champions League) - Bryon Allen scored 33 points in a spectacular individual performance to help CEZ Nymburk secure an 86-75 win over Banvit on Tuesday night.

Allen topped 30 for the second time this season in the Basketball Champions League, having an answer for for every Banvit run as he went 9 of 14 from the field. Eugene Lawrence put in a solid 10 point, 10 assist double double performance as Nymburk improved to 7-3 in Group A, handing Banvit just their second loss of the season and tightening the race for the top spot in the group.

Nymburk Head Coach Ronen Ginzburg was elated with the win:

"I think it's a big win for us, we play against great team, great coach. Our players I salute them, they make a very good job. On defence we fight like hell, on offence we play smart.

"I'm just so happy for this win because it's big win."

Banvit were led by 18 points-a-piece from Damian Kulig and Jordan Theodore but it would not be enough, as Nymburk used a 9-3 run to finish the third quarter - capped by an Allen three at the buzzer - to provide the gap they needed to hold on for the win.

Nymburk stay undefeated at home with the win, their fifth consecutive win this season in the Basketball Champions League.

"It was a great team we played against today," Allen said after the game.

"I think the advantage we had is we played very aggressive on defence from the start. We didn't let them hit us with the first punch, we hit them with the first punch then just kept on fighting.

"It was a game of runs but we kept fighting, and it was a great way to protect home court before heading into the break."

Diamon Simpson added 17 points for Nymburk.
