Basketball Champions League Play-Offs Draws explained


MIES, Switzerland (Basketball Champions League) - Following the conclusion of the Regular Season of the Basketball Champions League, 24 clubs have qualified for the Play-Off Draws to be conducted on Friday January 27th in the House of Basketball.

For the purposes of the Play-Off Draws, these 24 clubs have been ranked according to their final position within their respective groups during the Regular Season and their place in the Draws will be based on this ranking.

Draw for the Play-Off Qualifiers (16 clubs participating)
Games will be played over two rounds (Feb 7-8 and Feb 21-22) on head-to-head format.

A total of sixteen (16) clubs are concerned. They are presented here under in alphabetical order. Eight (8) clubs will be unseeded in this stage of the Draw and will play the first leg at home. The following eight (8) clubs, will be seeded in this stage of the Draw and will play the return leg at home.

Draw procedure
An unseeded club will be drawn first and a seeded club will be drawn second (respecting the relevant Draw restrictions), in order to form Game 1. The process will be followed until all eight (8) Games of the Play-Off Qualifiers have been drawn.

Draw restrictions

  • Clubs cannot be drawn against clubs from the same Group of the Regular Season.
  • Clubs cannot be drawn against clubs from the same country.

Draw for the Round of 16 (8 pairs form Play-Off Qualifiers and 8 clubs from the Regular Season)
Games will be played over two rounds (Feb 28/Mar 1 and Mar 7/8) on head-to-head format.

The Games 1-8 that were drawn in the Draw for the Play-Off Qualifiers will be unseeded and the winners of these games will play the first leg at home.

The following eight (8) clubs (presented in alphabetical order), will be seeded in this stage of the Draw and will play the return leg at home.

 Draw procedure
An unseeded Game will be drawn first and a seeded club will be drawn second (respecting the relevant Draw restrictions), in order to form Game 9. The process will be followed until all eight (8) Games of the Round of 16 have been drawn.
