AS Monaco seal Play-off spot with Bakken victory

MONACO (Basketball Champions League) - AS Monaco sealed their Play-off spot with a 105-86 win over Bakken Bears on Wednesday night, as they reached the century mark for the first time this season.

They became just the seventh team in the Basketball Champions League to reach triple digits, dismantling Bakken across the second half of the third quarter and final period.

Dee Bost led Monaco with 25 points and 5 assists, Ouattara had 18 points, whilst Zack Wright finished with 10 points and 5 assists.

When Iversen hit a three to bring Bakken within four, 62-58, with less than 5 minutes to play in the third period, Monaco responded with a 15-4 run - including 7 personal from Bost - to hold a 15 point cushion heading into the fourth.

"We knew that they were going to come out strong," said AS Monaco's Nik Caner-Medley after the game.

"They play a really up and down style and they play with a lot of freedom on offence. They did a couple of things early in the game that we needed to adjust to.

"Today we needed to come out with a win, and we knew they were going to play well early. We wanted to continue to take good shots and defend, and we thought that in the second half we'd be able to pull away similar to what we did when we played there, and that's what we were able to do, ultimately."

Caner-Medley hit a three with 3:41 remaining in the fourth to give AS Monaco their largest lead of the game at 20, and snuff any hopes Bakken may have had of a final miracle push.

Monaco improved to 9-1 in Group A with the win, sitting atop of the table with four games remaining.

Bakken were led by 16 points and 7 rebounds from DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell, but it would not prevent them falling to 1-9 with the defeat.
