Aris end Nymburk's win streak in Group A

THESSALONIKI (Basketball Champions League) - Aris ended CEZ Nymburk's five game winning streak with 83-79 victory to tie their records at 8-4 in Group A.

Nymburk still own the tie-breaker between both sides on points difference, and both sides have qualified for the Play-offs, but the win will be a welcome boost for Aris as they bounced back from last week's defeat to Banvit on the buzzer.

Michael Jenkins led Aris with 21 points, including five three-pointers, and Will Cummings played an all-round game with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

The game was tight throughout, featuring multiple lead changes. And whilst it was Nymburk who had a 1 point lead to open the fourth quarter, Aris took the lead on a Zaras three pointer a minute in and from there Nymburk were playing catch up.

There were two more ties in the early stage of the fourth period, but Nymburk were unable to break it, getting to within one with 2:30 to play, 76-75, but Aris hit their free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.

"Overall it was a win that we needed to do what we had to for advancing in the European league," Cummings said after the game.

"Big up to our guys for coming out, staying focused with all the things going on, the distractions as far as the snow, and changing the game.

"We did what we had to do, we came out and got a win, we didn't play as great as we wanted to but the objective is to win and we're ready to move on to the next game."

Vojtech Hruban led Nymburk with 20 points, whilst Bryon Allen had 13 and both Eugene Lawrence and Anthony Meier joined them in double figures with 10.

"Today's game was a hard one," Hruban said. "Both teams played very physical and both had a great first half in defence. There was a big difference between the first and second half.

"I didn't think we had a bad game today, we gave oursevles a chance to win. In the end it was about one or two last possessions that we didn't make."
